Yoga: The Journey of the Self, to the Self, through the Self...

Yoga is the art of making your mind beautiful.

To calm the mind is to come home to the body, where wisdom has always existed. You are the master of your own mind, the author of your own story, and your greatest teacher. We practice yoga so that what we discover on the mat can be carried into every aspect of our lives.

For me, yoga is an ongoing journey of self-discovery. It is a practice that invites us to slow down, listen deeply, trust ourselves, and to reconnect with our authentic nature. Through movement, breath, and presence, we learn to quiet the noise of the mind and awaken a deeper intelligence within.

Many people first come to yoga to relieve stress or improve flexibility, but over time they often discover something far more profound. The physical postures are only one small aspect of the practice. At its heart, yoga is a philosophy. A way of living that teaches us to cultivate awareness, discipline, compassion, and inner peace. Its purpose is not simply to move the body, but to create the conditions for stillness, meditation, and ultimately self-realisation.

Movement becomes the doorway. As we synchronise breath with motion, we learn to embody presence rather than simply thinking about it. Yoga provides the structure; we provide the willingness to show up. Every practice is an opportunity to cultivate awareness, discover our own rhythm, and enter a state of flow.

Each time we step onto the mat, we meet ourselves exactly as we are. Yoga asks us to turn our attention inwards; not toward the teacher, the playlist, or how we appear, but toward our own experience. It is here that transformation begins.

In many ways, yoga reveals three versions of ourself: the one who arrives to begin the practice, the one who moves through the practice, and the one who rests in savasana. Savasana is considered the most challenging pose because it asks us to completely surrender. Ironically, the English translation of savasana is ‘corpse pose’ which we can be viewed symbolically as a form of death. One that allows the energy, and spirit to rest, reset, and integrate. As we rise from savasana, we re-enter the space  with greater clarity, feeling rejuvenated, and more connected. Stepping onto the map is therefore a continual cycle of rebirth and transformation.

Yoga has given me the courage to trust my intuition, follow my truth, and love myself more deeply. It allows me to embrace every part of who I am. Through the practice of yoga I am able to balance my energy whilst allowing myself the freedom to unleash both sides of my personality. One side is energetic adventurous, playful and fun loving. The other side is emotional, mysterious, deep, and thoughtful. I have learned that all these qualities are not opposites but expressions of the same whole.

My teaching is rooted in kindness, presence, and curiosity. I honour the traditions of yoga while being inspired by the artistic flow. I teach Vinyasa Flow for its dynamic balance of strength, challenge, and expression, while Hatha and Yin offer space for healing, stillness, and restoration. My hope is that every student leaves not only feeling stronger in their body, but more centred in their thoughts, open in their heart, and more connected to themselves calmer in their mind, more open in their heart, and more connected to themselves than when they arrived.
